Some of these are more successful than others and you never know when you might see something get started that will work out very well. On the other hand, there is always the chance that something might not pan out. That is what happened with one particular pairing and now one of the people involved is revealing what he thinks went wrong.

Back in 2022, WWE Hall Of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield became the on-screen mentor of Baron Corbin. However, by February 2023, the pairing had been dropped, with Layfield ending the pairing on television. Corbin was recently interviewed by the Takedown and took the blame for the concept not working. Corbin had wanted Layfield to get more physical in the role but said that “sometimes things just don’t pan out”. This comes after Corbin was released from WWE last month.

Opinion: Corbin is right in that sometimes such a thing just doesn’t work. That isn’t really something that can be blamed on either of them and there was pretty much nothing that could have been done. It was another idea that WWE had for Corbin which didn’t work, though it does seem like WWE gave up on him a bit too soon. Maybe the Layfield pairing wasn’t the solution, but you would think they could have found something that would have worked.
