Diego Boneta To Star In Amazon MGM Studios Series ‘The Undoing of Alejandro Velasco’ Based On His Debut Novel

Diego Boneta will executive produce and star as “Julian Villareal” in the new Amazon MGM Studios series The Undoing of Alejandro Velasco, a project that has been in development simultaneously with Boneta’s debut novel of the same name.

The psychological thriller centers around handsome stranger Julian Villareal (Boneta), who visits the family of Alejandro Velasco at their opulent estate to pay his respects following Velasco’s death. Julian and Alejandro are close friends and tennis rivals. Soon Julian becomes entwined in the family’s glamorous lifestyle—and their daughter Sofia’s mysterious allure. Mercurial and quick-witted, Sofia seems determined to give Julian a run for his money. And he’s prepared to play along—both on and off the tennis courts.

As the tension between Julian and Sofia heats up, Julian hides a much darker secret: Alejandro’s death was no accident. And the more Julian learns about the inner workings of the Velasco family, the greater the danger he uncovers. With power and status come opponents bent on toppling the empire, by blackmail, revenge, or even murder. Julian’s quest for answers will only lure him deeper into this den of vipers, but teasing out Sofia’s intentions may be the steamiest—and deadliest—game of all.

Oliver Goldstick and Natalia Castells-Esquivel will write the script with PKM Productions’ Patrick Moran and Lynley Bird, StoryGiants’ Lauren Oliver and Lexa Hillyer, and Three Amigos’s Diego Boneta and Natalia Boneta on board as non-writing executive producers.

Boneta’s novel will be released on May 13 from Amazon Crossing, an imprint of Amazon Publishing.
