Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has been dominating the headlines with news concerning his personal and professional lives. Aside from his music and movies, Diljit – who will feature on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show today, has been in the limelight as news of his alleged marriage began circulating. While the ‘Udta Punjab’ actor is yet to address reports of his wife and kid living in the US, he recently opened up about the time he propose marriage while in school. Diljit Dosanjh proposed to a girl at age 8?
During an interaction with Raj Shamani on his podcast, Diljit Dosanjh revealed, “I tried to run away from my home at the age of 8. There was a girl in my school, and because of her, I tried to run away from my house.” Elaborating on the same, the ‘Crew’ actor said, “When I was in school, my seniors were randomly asking all of us, ‘Tereko kaun ladki pasand hai?’ I pointed towards this girl and said, ‘I like her.’ So my senior was like, ‘Go confess it to her and then you will get married to her only.’ I was like okay. I went to the girl and told her that you and I will get married. She went and complained to my teacher and my teacher was like ‘Go get your parents.’ For me, it was the end of the world.”
The ‘Jatt and Juliet’ actor continued, “So, the 8-year-old me opened the fridge, picked two bananas, some other fruits, took my cycle and just left. I just went say five minutes away from my house when one of the villagers just yelled at me, ‘Where are you going, go back to your home.’ Earlier, in villages, it was never like nobody apart from parents could yell at you. It was very common for the villagers to yell and shout at kids in the village, they were all like a family, and they sometimes even slapped. So, this man made me return home when I tried to leave.”
The ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ concluded, “Then, the next day, I lied about a stomach ache and skipped school for two days. Then my teacher also let me go.”

Diljit Dosanjh is currently awaiting the release of his next, Jatt & Juliet 3. Also starring Neeru Bajwa, Jasmin Bajwa, Rana Ranbir, B.N. Sharma and Nasir Chinyoti, the film will release on June 27. He will also appear in tonight’s episode of Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show.
