Jon M. Chu provided an update on the Britney Spears biopic. Back in August, we learned that a movie was in the works based on the Princess of Pop’s memoir “The Woman in Me.” Jon is working with Britney on developing it and will serve as the director. Since then we haven’t gotten many updates about the project. However, Britney sparked rumors that she was also collaborating with Jon on a film rendition of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. During a recent interview, Jon revealed where the biopic stood and addressed the casting rumor. Keep reading to find out more… “I cannot talk much about the Britney story other than I have been a Britney fan for many years,” Jon told The Hollywood Reporter. He continued, saying, “She represents a generation of people growing up in the 2000s and late ’90s, and she has a story that deserves to be told properly. There’s a lot about us in it.” Here’s where the project stands now: “We haven’t written the script yet, we haven’t hired a writer yet. But in this initial conception, I think it’s a lot about how we treat people, young people, stars that we think we own, women, mothers. There’s a lot of things in there that I would love to explore.” As for the rumors about Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jon is deferring to Britney. “You’ll have to ask Britney what she meant by all of that, but she wrote my name in one of her Instagrams or tweets. That’s an honor. I love that. I think she likes to tease the audience in different ways. So I’ll let it be a mystery on her part, but I’m excited to work with her,” he said. A big actress recently expressed interest in playing Britney in the movie.
