A PSG executive was injured during this September international break.

This is a very bad one for PSG. Having become an essential element of Luis Enrique’s eleven, Vitinha was injured on Thursday evening, during Portugal’s victory over Croatia (2-1), on the occasion of the first day of the group stage of the Nations League.

Vitinha was forced to leave the pitch late in the match after a strain on his ankle. Roberto Martinez has confirmed that the 24-year-old midfielder will be out of the Seleçao’s next match against Scotland, pending the results of the initial tests.

Martinez on Vitinha: “Medical tests must be carried out”

“Vitinha is a player who has developed a lot in the last twelve months and has reached an exceptional level. He has an incredible ability to control the game, his sense of time and space and his technical quality. Given his qualities, he deserves to be on the Ballon d’Or list. He will certainly not play against Scotland. He has an ankle problem and we will assess him in the next 24 to 48 hours as medical tests need to be carried out.

“, declared the Portuguese coach.

Vitinha will therefore remain with his national team until the seriousness of his injury is revealed, before most certainly returning to Paris. In the meantime, the Parisian supporters and staff are holding their breath.
