‘Doesn’t make sense’ – Saha advises Manchester United not to sign French midfielder

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has warned the club not to sign Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer.

The France international is available on a Bosman after leaving Juventus at the end of his contract during the summer.

Rabiot starred at Euro 2024 for France, but due to not currently having a club, he was left out of Didier Deschamps’ squad for the recent round of internationals.

United are one of the teams linked with the midfielder, but Saha doesn’t think it would be a wise move for his former club.

“I don’t think so, no. I don’t believe he fits the profile of player that we need at the moment,” he told Betfred (cited by the Manchester Evening News) when asked if United should sign Rabiot.

“We’ve just signed Ugarte and we also have Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo, so we already have number 6s and 8s in the squad. We’ve let Scott McTominay go, who was a big threat going forward, but I don’t believe Adrien is the type of player that’s going to help the forwards to score goals.

“He’s got a big engine and a huge amount of experience but we’ve just signed Ugarte, so even though I really like Adrien as a player, the move doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t believe the club needs to concentrate on signing another player in that position.”

Rabiot is demanding big money

According to GIVEMESPORT, United have been told they will need to pay Rabiot a weekly wage of £200,000 in order to sign him as a free agent.

After seeing Matthijs de Ligt take a wage cut to join United in the summer, I think (if this is true about Rabiot wanting such a salary) this proves what Saha says about the midfielder not being the right profile.

The last thing we need now is to sign a mercenary.
