Dog Man has some bite! Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s animated dog crime-fighting movie brought in $36 million at the domestic box office from 3,885 North American theaters in its opening weekend, Variety reports. The Captain Underpants universe film opened at the higher end of its projected range, and it earned an “A” grade on CinemaScore, suggesting positive word-of-mouth buzz. It brought in an additional $4.2 million from 29 international markets for a global tally of $40.6 million. It had a $40 million production budget. The film is an adaptation of author Dav Pilkey’s children’s graphic novel series, featuring the voice cast of Pete Davidson, Lil Rel Howery and Isla Fisher.
