Dominik Mysterio has been through a lot since he first made his WWE debut as Rey Mysterio’s son. He is now standing on his own, which means he has experienced numerous interactions with top talent, and he’s received incredibly beneficial support in the process.
Heading into Clash At The Castle in 2022, Dominik Mysterio was viewed by many fans as a babyface who was losing momentum. However, the tide shifted dramatically at the event when Mysterio turned on his father, Rey Mysterio, and aligned himself with the Judgment Day faction.
Since that pivotal moment, Dirty Dominik Mysterio became one of the biggest heat magnets in WWE. Following his betrayal, Dominik Mysterio received a message of support from Randy Orton, a legendary heel in WWE.
During an interview with The Bootleg Kev Show, Dominik Mysterio revealed that he received a message from The Apex Predator himself after that pivotal moment in his career.
“I think [it] definitely changed as my career has evolved. But in the moment, top of my mind I can think of, Randy [Orton]’s always been there, as far as texting me, even before he came back, he’d always text me. I remember when I turned on my dad, he was one of the first people to text me, like, ‘Hell yeah, enjoy the ride, kid,’”
Receiving an endorsement from Randy Orton added to the significance of Mysterio’s heel turn. After all, The Viper is known for his dramatic transitions onto the heel side of the roster as well. That bode of confidence, and much more, has propelled Dirty Dom to new heights as one of WWE’s top bad guys.
There’s no way of knowing how long Dominik Mysterio will be able to keep up his heel persona in WWE. After all, he has a neck tattoo to proclaim that he’s not a good guy at all.
As the Judgment Day was seemingly turning babyface, WWE switched that up by ejecting Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest, only to replace them with even more heat thanks to Dominik Mysterio picking Liv Morgan over The Nightmare at SummerSlam 2024. It seems that Dominik has a long road ahead of him as a heel, but all of that hard work will not go unnoticed by the WWE Universe when the time finally comes for Dirty Dom to play the babyface card once again.
