The Northern Regional Minister, Mr Ali Adolf John Nburidiba, has urged the youth in the region to desist from misusing social media to foment troubles in the area.
He said the idea of social media was meant to create fun and links to new friends but not to use it to foment troubles.
The minister noted this here at Jubilee Park in Tamale at this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr prayer on Monday.

He told the Muslim Ummah to use the lessons learnt for 30 days of fasting to “clean themselves” to lead a good lives that would champion the development of the region.
He stated that it was important for parents to prioritise the upbringing of their wards to uphold the Islamic principles in order to become responsible adults.
The minister also stated that the significance of Eid-ul-Fitr was a period for “reflection, compassion, generosity, and love to every Muslim.”
He added that Northern Region was a Muslim-dominated region, hence the need to abide by the teachings and preaching of Islam to promote peace in their various communities.
Again, MR Nburidiba indicated that they had been peace in the region for some time now and called on the Ulemmah to continue praying for peace in the region.
He assured the Ulemmah in the region of his commitment to work closely with them to address some of the challenges in the region.
Moreover, the minister outlined that, the NDC government led by President John Dramani Mahama aimed to enhance the skills of the youth, such as the National Apprenticeship Programme and the Youth Entrepreneurship Programme and these interventions would benefit the region if there was absolute peace
Mr Nburidiba, however commended the Muslim Ulemmah in the region for their prayers in ensuring successful polls during the 2024 General Election.
The Northern Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdul Salam Ahmed, assured the minister that they would continue to pray for the success and peaceful co-existence among the people in their various communities in the region.
