Donald Trump Is Being Sued for Unauthorized Use of Isaac Hayes Song at His Rallies

The family of the late singer Isaac Hayes is threatening a lawsuit against Donald Trump‘s presidential campaign.

Lawyers for Isaac Hayes Enterprises sent the 78-year-old former President of the United States a warning, in the form of copyright infringement over the use of the late musician’s song “Hold On, I’m Comin’” at Trump rallies.

“We the family of @isaachayes Isaac Hayes Enterprises, represented by Walker & Associates, are suing @realDonaldTrump and his campaign for 134 counts copyright infringement for the unauthorized use of the song ‘Hold On I’m Coming’ at campaign rallies from 2022-2024,” they said.

“We demand the cessation of use, removal of all related videos, a public disclaimer, and payment of $3 million in licensing fees by August 16, 2024. Failure to comply will result in further legal action. – The Hayes Family.”

Isaac, who died in August 2008 at age 65 after suffering a stroke, wrote “Hold On, I’m Comin’” with David Porter for soul duo Sam & Dave in 1966. His son Isaac Hayes III says the copyright to the song reverted to the Hayes family in March 2022, via TMZ.
