Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, an avowed supporter of Trump, was one of the first to respond as election results became clear in the race to the White House.
“Good morning, Hungary! On the road to a beautiful victory,” he wrote in a Facebook caption of an image of himself watching CNN’s live coverage of the vote.
Orbán, Europe’s longest-serving leader and Vladimir Putin’s closest ally in the European Union, has previously vowed to open “several bottles of champagne” to toast Trump.
Nigel Farage, a British lawmaker who has become a close surrogate of Trump over the years, described his victory as “the most incredible political comeback of our lifetime.”
