Bobby Lashley is a highly decorated professional wrestler. He’s an eight-time world champion (WWE, ECW, TNA), a three-time United States Champion, and a two-time Intercontinental Champion, among other accolades. He was also paired with former United States President Donald Trump for a high-profile match at WrestleMania 23, which WWE billed as the “Battle Of The Billionaires.”

During the build-up to that match, Trump famously flubbed Lashley’s last name during an interview, mistakenly referring to him as “Bobby Lindsay.” It appears that Trump still can’t remember Lashley’s name.

Donald Trump was the special guest on this week’s new episode of the Six Feet Under podcast. The pair were reminiscing about their memories of the wrestling business. Taker then shared a story about how his friends and family were at a WWE event. He noted Trump was in attendance, and he was asked to move back a row so Taker’s group could sit at ringside. Trump obliged, but Taker apologized for his friend’s big head, which resulted in a funny photo of Trump leaning around to see the action.

Trump then brought up his infamous appearance at WrestleMania 23. Vince McMahon brought Umaga to the ring and Trump was in Bobby Lashley’s corner. The stipulation of the match was that the losing billionaire would have their head shaved in the ring. Trump remembered that and he remembered Umaga’s name, but couldn’t quite remember who he was there for.

“The big thing — we had the Battle Of The Billionaires. There was Vince and me, and we each had our wrestler,” Trump explained. “He had Umaga, we had two good guys, and they wrestled. And fortunately, my guy won and the loser had to have their hair shaved. I said, ‘I don’t want to have my hair shaved!’ But we actually wrestled a little bit. It was a pretty famous thing, but I think it has [WWE’s] all-time record for [pay-per-view buys]. It was a big one.”

Bobby Lashley on Donald Trump in WWE

Bobby Lashley reflected on working with Trump for one of Lana’s (CJ Perry) backstage vlogs. Lashley said Trump was an important part of the story, and asked how he could help advance the story instead of picking his own spots.

“It was an incredible time. And I can tell you one thing about Trump, when he came there, he didn’t say, ‘I’m going to wrestle for you, Bobby. I’m going to do the refereeing for you, Steve [Austin].’ He came out there and said, ‘What can I do to make this better.’ And we just used the resources that he had and everything was great,” Lashley said. “He was a great team player all the way through it. It just made the angle, the whole story, the feud, everything, it made it great. He was a very important part.”

Lashley said Trump also told him he had a great body and tried encouraging him to get together with a Miss America contestant.
