With Nico Williams all but confirming that he will stay at Athletic Club for next season, all the attention in Catalonia turns to his compatriot Dani Olmo.

The RB Leipzig star has been a serious target for the Blaugrana since his sensational performances at Euro 2024 and the club have accelerated talks with the German club in recent days.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Olmo’s entourage would travel to Germany to discuss and finalise their client’s move to Barcelona.

Deal done

Barcelona sporting director Deco also travelled to Germany to hold a meeting and Fabrizio Romano reveals that the deal is all but done now with talks moving swiftly in the right direction.

In fact, the Italian journalist has given his ever-reliable ‘here we go’ for the deal.

Earlier today, the administrator met with the player himself, his father and his agents to discuss the terms of the proposal and has now negotiated with the Leipzig hierarchy to finalise an agreement.

As it stands, the deal finalised is said to include €55 million in fixed terms with an additional €7 million in add-ons, albeit difficult to reach.

Olmo is thus set to become the club’s second signing of the summer and will sign for six seasons until 2030. A verbal agreement is in place and an official announcement can be expected soon.

Over ten years after leaving Barcelona, Olmo seems set to make a comeback to the club of his dreams. It remains to be seen if his arrival has any direct bearing on the future of Ilkay Gundogan or any other midfielder.
