Borussia Dortmund have briefed that Donyell Malen will remain at the club beyond January despite the arrival of Jadon Sancho and links to Manchester United.
According to German publication, BILD, Malen is still in Edin Terzic’s plans after starting the 24-year-old in their last three Bundesliga matches.
It remains to be seen if Malen will keep his place in the side once Sancho breaks into the team. The United loanee came off the bench to register an assist on his debut for the club against Darmstadt.
A report earlier this summer from FootballTransfers suggest Malen could arrive at Old Trafford in the opposite direction to Sancho. It never materialised and reports in Germany now believe Malen is going nowhere.
Interestingly, Malen is a client of the same agency as United manager Erik ten Hag and players such as Rasmus Hojlund.
Malen can play on either wing or even as a versatile centre-forward. His favourite role is on the right wing.
The Dutch winger made his name at PSV Eindhoven, who signed him from Arsenal’s academy, before he left for Dortmund in 2021 – the same summer in which they sold Sancho to United.
