Marvel’s Next Big Thing panel at New York Comic Con has just finished, and the publisher announced four new comic book titles releasing early next year.
© MarvelFirst among them is The Rise of Emperor Doom, a five-issue miniseries written by Ryan North with art by R.B. Silva and a cover for issue #1 by Ben Harvey. Set for release February 2025, the series is said to be set six months after Doctor Victor Von Doom became Sorcerer Supreme…
“…then disappeared behind Latveria’s closed borders. For most, there’s enough going on in the world that Doom’s absence is not a priority, and some time without him feels like a blessing. Only a few recognize it for what it truly was…the calm before the storm. It is a storm that has now arrived. The world has woken up to a new reality: Doctor Doom, Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme, has magically taken over every broadcast medium on the planet and declared himself Emperor of the World – the ruler of a new United Latveria! And shockingly, impossibly, all of Earth’s leaders seem to be going along with this. Luckily, whether it’s mind control or Doombots, whatever’s affecting them hasn’t affected Earth’s heroes – and so they quickly form a strike team to stop Doom’s machinations. But will they succeed? And what happens when some begin to welcome their new Emperor with open arms, clamoring for One World Under Doom? Marvel’s biggest and most shocking event ever begins right here, with THE RISE OF EMPEROR DOOM #1.”

Its premiere story arc is said to concern Magik, Colossus, and Omega Red deploying “their most lethal asset: The Winter Soldier! But WHO is the weapon behind the mask?”
© MarvelThe publisher revealed Luke Cage will be returning to shelves with Power Man: Timeless, another five-issue miniseries releasing in February from writers Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing and art by Bernard Chang. Back from outer space, “the god-slaying, Gamma-powered, Iron-Fisted, Sentry from the future Luke Cage arrives in the modern Marvel Universe, only to discover a foe, and a mystery, that will challenge even his incredible abilities!”
© MarvelFinally, there’s Astonishing Spider-Man Infinity Comic, the first “in a new Astonishing line of Infinity Comics exclusively on Marvel Unlimited” available today. Written by Scott Aukerman (Comedy Bang Bang) with art by Salva Espin, the title is only said to concern Spider-Man “about to run into some serious trouble … that all starts with a BANG.” Astonishing Spider-Man will be followed by Astonishing X-Men stories in December and Astonishing Avengers stories in January.
© MarvelMarvel additionally saw fit to discuss Phoenix #8, written by Stephanie Phillips with art by Marco Renna. Releasing February 2025, the next chapter in the Phoenix’s ongoing saga will pick up after Phoenix’s battle with Thanos and the Black Order as she “fights for the fate of the Phoenix Force. Meanwhile, her enemies have become more powerful than ever – as PERRIKUS’ alliance with ADANI grows to include the evil DARK GODS!”
And that’s all about all she wrote for this year’s Next Big Thing panel. Let us know in the comments if any of these titles catch your fancy.
