Dortmund want to keep Jadon Sancho at the club next season and will speak to Manchester United about either a permanent move or a season-long loan.
The England midfielder joined the club in January after falling out with Erik ten Hag.
Sancho refused to apologise to the Dutchman for claiming he was a ‘scapegoat’, and as a result Ten Hag refused to reintegrate Sancho into his squad.
The playmaker was understandably rusty after joining Dortmund, given he hadn’t played for four months.
But Sancho’s performances have improved in recent weeks, with Sancho making it two goals in as many games on Wednesday to help Dortmund progress to the last eight of the Champions League.
Sancho will reportedly refuse to return to Old Trafford for as long as Ten Hag is in charge, though there is considerable doubt over the Dutchman’s future at the club.
And the BBC say that could work in Dortmund’s favour, as the club will look to keep Sancho next season.
While his wages would make a permanent move difficult, the club will explore keeping Sancho in the long-term.
Should the finances not work, Dortmund are open to a season-long loan deal.
But United would likely demand a high loan fee, as well as an obligation to buy.
Sancho’s deal runs until 2026, though there’s an option to extend that by 12 months.
