Drew McIntyre had been absent for a couple of months following his brutal Hell in a Cell match with CM Punk at Bad Blood, but he did make his return on the December 2 episode of RAW. Ahead of tonight’s edition of Monday Night RAW, Drew McIntyre has now addressed his absence from WWE television for the past couple of months.

While speaking to 12 News, Drew McIntyre talked about his absence after the Bad Blood Premium Live Event. McIntyre stated that his Hell in a Cell match was really tough, and during the match, he got a bad head injury that needed 16 staples to close the wound.

“I had a Hell in a Cell match that was incredibly brutal. During the match, I got hit in the head at one point and ended up needing 16 staples to close a wound on the top of my head.”

On top of that, Drew McIntyre revealed that he had a loss in his family and had to go back to Scotland to take care of things. While he was away, he took some time to think about his life. He realized he had been putting too much focus on wrestling and not enough on his family.

“On top of that, I suffered a personal loss in my family, which required me to return to Scotland to deal with it. This made me reevaluate my priorities. I realized I’ve been giving too much to my profession and colleagues, and not enough to my family. After 17 years of dedicating myself fully to wrestling, I’ve decided it’s time to take a step back and focus more on what truly matters to me.”

McIntyre is now ready to come back with a clear mind. He wants to take back his spot in WWE, go after what he deserves, and move forward with a new outlook and added that this is an interesting phase for him.

“Tonight, I’m coming in with the mindset of taking what’s mine. I’m ready to beat up those who deserve it and claim my place. This is going to be an interesting phase for Drew McIntyre.”

Even Triple H noted that Drew McIntyre was dying to make his television return last week. We will have to wait and see how WWE will book The Scottish Warrior as we slowly head towards the Netflix era, as it’s clear he has a lot of beef with Sami Zayn at the moment.
