CM Punk tried to move on, but Drew McIntyre had other plans on WWE RAW.
CM Punk came to the ring on the September 2 episode of WWE RAW, clearly riding high after his win at WWE Bash in Berlin. There, he beat Drew McIntyre in a Strap Match and got his beloved bracelet back. In the ring on WWE RAW, Punk said he wanted to celebrate with the fans. He said the Strap Match was hell and maybe one of the toughest matches he had been in. Punk said that he was on the other side of a personal issue, so it was time to get back to business.
Punk stated that he was a businessman, and he’d take money however he could get it. He also highlighted World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, who beat Randy Orton at WWE Bash in Berlin. Punk congratulated Gunther but said that nothing could replace the chip on his shoulder other than a title. He stated that it was time to be a champion again. Punk said that he would enjoy taking the title from Gunther. Finally, Punk said that the goal was gold, and his target was Gunther.
Punk started to celebrate, but a hooded man attacked him from behind. The assailant revealed himself to be Drew McIntyre. McIntyre then blasted Punk with a Claymore. He got Punk in the ring and drilled him with another Claymore. Officials tried to stop him, but McIntyre argued with them. McIntyre proceeded to take Punk’s beloved bracelet back. He broke the bracelet and shoved the beads in his mouth. McIntyre nailed Punk with another Claymore. Officials then pulled McIntyre off of Punk.
Punk was then taken out on a stretcher. McIntyre found him and attacked him again. Punk was bleeding from the mouth. McIntyre gouged his eyes, and officials again separated them.
