Drew McIntyre has been on a roll as a heel over the past several weeks as he has been with several WWE Superstars, including Cody Rhodes. McIntyre even claimed credit for Rhodes opting for Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

Cody Rhodes made headlines by clinching the Royal Rumble victory for the second year running. Controversy ensued when it appeared he relinquished his WrestleMania spot to The Rock. However, he ultimately opted to challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, setting the stage for a rematch from the previous year.

Prior to his ultimate decision, Rhodes faced a confrontation with Drew McIntyre during a promo with Rollins on Monday Night RAW. The Scottish Warrior advised the Royal Rumble winner to choose Reigns and finish his narrative. The tension escalated when the two later brawled, sparked by the two-time WWE Champion’s attack on The Visionary.

While speaking with The West Sport, Drew McIntyre claimed that his ambush on Rhodes influenced the latter’s decision to choose Reigns, dubbing himself “the people’s executioner.”

“What I tried to say on Monday it was, I tell the truth all the time. I’ve not lied once. You’d get selfish Seth who was trying to get Cody to fight him and nobody wanted that match. Selfish Cody promised he’d finish the story, made a video game about it, wouldn’t stop saying it for two years and went, ‘You know what? Maybe I’ll fight Seth.’ And I’m like, ‘You idiot, that’s not the plan. You promised everybody this.’ And I was the people’s executioner. I beat him up then he made the right choice.”

All I’ve ever done is tell the truth. All I’ve ever done is did what needed to be done, like smash people that are bad people even if you don’t see it on screen and they got a big smile on the screen. Backstage, I know who’s bad backstage. I am the people’s executioner. I do what’s right for the people.”

Drew McIntyre is set to square off against Cody Rhodes on next week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, so it remains to be seen how The Scottish Warrior will fare against The American Nightmare
