Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes reunited on WWE RAW, but tensions rose between the former tag team partners.

Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre teamed up years ago. They won the WWE Tag Team Championship together in 2010 before their careers veered off in different directions. They have rarely interacted since Rhodes returned to WWE in 2022, but they shared the ring on the January 15 episode of WWE RAW.

Rhodes kicked off the show and brought up his goal to win the Royal Rumble match. McIntyre interrupted and told Cody that he was proud of him. He looked back on their time as a tag team, but tensions quickly rose. McIntyre criticized Rhodes for bringing Jey Uso to WWE RAW and endorsing CM Punk. He also took issue with Rhodes for always putting on a smile.

As for the Royal Rumble, McIntyre told Rhodes that he would finish the story, but not before he won the gold himself. He later said that the “story” would belong to him at WrestleMania.

Cody replied by making it clear that he smiled because he relished the second chance he has in WWE, while McIntyre spent his time constantly complaining. “The American Nightmare” stated that he only looked in his heart and out at the crowd when it came to wondering whether he would finish the story.
