Drew McIntyre admits he’s disappointed that he never got to wrestle John Cena in a singles match in WWE.
Despite sharing the WWE locker room for years and years, that match simply never materialized. The former WWE Champions have only competed in multi-man matches, like tag team bouts or battle royals. While this is a dream match for many, for some reason it has never been booked by the WWE.
This is a disappointment for Drew McIntyre, which he made clear when speaking during a media call to promote Elimination Chamber. He revealed he was very disappointed to not get that match, but even more so to tell John Cena what he thinks about him to his face.
“To be honest, I was hoping I’d get the opportunity to say some things to his face. We discussed that I’ve never had a one-on-one match with John, even though we spent literally years and years with each other,” Drew McIntyre said.
“Much like CM Punk, I ain’t afraid to tell the truth—my truth specifically—and I’m very disappointed I didn’t get the chance to say it to his face. If I can’t tell the truth elsewhere, I’ll tell the truth on social media. And there’s plenty I’ve got to say about John Cena.”
Drew McIntyre will be able to get his hands on John Cena at Elimination Chamber. Both men are competing inside the Elimination Chamber match for a shot at Cody Rhodes’ WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41.
Drew McIntyre On Getting His Knee Drained Before WWE SmackDown Match
In the same interview, Drew McIntyre spoke about getting his knee drained before Smackdown last week.
“I couldn’t bend it fully, unfortunately,” Drew McIntyre said. “I told the doctor, listen, let’s get this fluid out. He wasn’t exactly over the moon about it, but medically it was safe or we wouldn’t have done it in the first place.”
“To put it simply, I’m not a p****. A lot of the guys are now. I said get that out. I’ve gotta show to put on. I’ve got a performance to do and this is affecting me. So we took that fluid out. I got in the ring, I did my job. I left Jimmy not looking like a winner, that’s for sure.”
