With BARSIK now a top 250 crypto asset by market cap, there’s every sign that this is a coin that’s going to go the distance.

Key Notes

DWF Labs, a prominent web3 investor known for supporting innovative projects, awarded a $500,000 grant to BARSIK.The rapid success of BARSIK reflects the meme coin trend’s ability to capture attention and drive value while contributing to meaningful efforts like animal charity.

The internet loves cats, no more so than the crypto community whose meme connoisseurs can’t get enough of cat and dog-themed coins. Particularly so when those tokens have a higher goal such as supporting animal charities. The news that Web3 investor and market maker DWF Labs has invested in BARSIK, the cat welfare Solana meme coin, has thus been greeted with wide delight.

DWF Digs Deep for BARSIK

DWF Labs invests serious money in serious projects but it’s also not shy of its support for meme coins which, for a large chunk of crypto traders, are the only show that matters. On November 19, DWF announced that it had sent a $500,000 grant the way of BARSIK, with analytics service Lookonchain confirming the transaction, dispatched in the form of USDT USDT $1.00 24h volatility: 0.1% Market cap: $128.85 B Vol. 24h: $103.52 B .

DWF explained:

“We are proud to support $BARSIK, a meme that combines blockchain technology with a meaningful cause. This grant reflects our belief in driving innovation that impacts lives beyond the digital realm.”

It’s no secret that the DWF team are big fans of meme coin culture; head honcho Andre Grachev regularly tweets about them, and was recently enthusing about the latest developments in the meme coin space after returning from DevCon in Bangkok last week.

Hasbulla’s Cat Feels the Love

Many of the most famous and valuable cat and dogcoins are inspired by famous people’s pets and BARSIK is no different. It’s Hasbulla’s cat. Hasbulla is the Russian social media personality whose dwarfism causes him to possess a permanent expression of child-like innocence. The Solana meme coin charts are awash with Hasbulla-derived tokens but BARSIK is the one that’s gone the distance. That’s partly because it features his cat but also because it’s got a higher cause: supporting animal welfare.

BARSIK has been a roaring success since launching merely days ago, approaching a $250M cap and keeping crypto Twitter amused with its content, which pays tribute to Hasbulla’s recently deceased cat. Dead pets are a major meta right now, of course, thanks to Peanut the Squirrel and Fred the Racoon, prompting a slew of other projects centered around animals that deserve the internet’s love.

With BARSIK now a top 250 crypto asset by market cap, there’s every sign that this is a coin that’s going to go the distance. And if it manages to raise some money for cat charities in the process, all the better. If nothing else comes out of the current meme coin season than a bunch of cats getting to have better lives, it’ll all have been worth it.

DWF Labs Doesn’t Just Care about Cats

DWF’s $500K grant awarded to BARSIK – for the culture and for the cats – is the sort of move that’ll keep it onside with the crypto community while further raising its profile. Not that the company needs to boost its brand: it’s already arguably the best-known web3 investor and market marker with a stake in hundreds of projects, blockchains, and protocols.

Some of its best work, at least in supporting the industry’s long-term growth, comes in the form of the ecosystem grants it routinely doles out. It’s contributed to a $10M fund administered by the TON Foundation for accelerating the development of The Open Network and followed suit with a $15M fund overseen by the Algorand Foundation. Elsewhere, it contributes to the Bybit x DMCC x DWF Hackathon that gives DeFi builders the resources they need to thrive. Its $500K award to BARSIK might not reinvent DeFi or incubate the next wave of blockchain developers. But it might just save a few cats, and for that alone, it’s money well spent.
