Dylan Minnette opened up about his on-pause acting career and plans for the future. The 27-year-old hit it big with his role in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why back in 2017, but he’s been working as an actor since 2005. His last big role was in 2022′s Scream, and he has since shifted gears to focus on developing his band Wallows. During a recent interview, Dylan explained the decision and revealed if he plans to get back into acting in the future. Keep reading to find out more… While on The Zach Sang Show, Dylan said that he was “really fortunate” to have had success in his acting career, acknowledging 13 Reasons Why. “It was really popular and definitely reached a peak,” he said about his career at the time. “But it also started to feel like a bit of a job.” Before that, acting was “always fun” and “really inspiring.” He continued, saying, “But then it was starting to feel like just a job. I was like, ‘Well…’ I feel like Wallows and music is this passion that we’ve always had as a group to really take all the way as far as we can. And I was like, ‘I feel like I’m in a position now where I can just kind of do that for a while.’” Dylan added that he didn’t think the band would succeed if he didn’t “put my 100% time and energy into it” to “show the world that we all take this very seriously.” That being said, he did confirm that he is thinking about acting again. However, he joked that he keeps pushing back the time when he will get back into Hollywood. Dylan also said that he set aside time to act in 2023. However, the time fell directly in the middle of the SAG-AFTRA strike that effectively shut down the industry for months. While his return was pushed back, Dylan said that it might be for the best. “I’m starting to feel like I have something to give artistically and creatively in other fields than just music now,” he said, adding, “that’s probably acting.” If you missed it, Dylan recently showed up to support one of his former costars at a big event.
