Napoli are finalising an improved proposal to re-test Manchester United’s resolve for Alejandro Garnacho, as per journalist Attilio Malena.

The Serie A leaders failed in their initial attempt to prise the young winger from Old Trafford after seeing a £40 million bid rebuffed by United.

Now, after numerous meetings and lengthy negotiations, they will return with a £42m offer while pledging bonuses in hopes of twisting INEOS’ arm and ‘snatching’ the player, as any fee the board recuperate through facilitating Garnacho’s sale generates pure profit for the club.

United aren’t actively looking to offload their academy graduate, but the significant PSR boost they’d receive has made them more open to the prospect than fans hoped.

Earlier this campaign, the 20-year-old was hailed as the side’s ‘most impactful’ forward due to his outstanding goal returns. He now has eight goals and five assists to his name in 34 appearances – but is vying with fellow starlet Amad Diallo to retain a starting spot.

Chelsea established their interest in Garnacho at the beginning of the month amid reports he would prefer to stay in the Premier League, although the Blues have yet to make a formal approach.

For the Old Trafford faithful, the premise of losing one of their most exhilarating youngsters of the last few years is unthinkable as it is, so doing so to a direct top-six rival like Chelsea is unfathomable.

The eight-capped Argentine international joined from Atletico Madrid’s academy for a £420,000 fee in 2020 and has since accumulated 120 appearances in red.
