Estevao Willian of Palmeiras is a man in demand in the transfer market, with almost every elite European club, including FC Barcelona, dreaming of his signing.

Just 16 years old, Estevao, also known as ‘Messinho’, has been shining brightly for Palmeiras’ Under-20 outfit and even made his senior breakthrough towards the end of 2023.

The versatile attacking midfielder also starred at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Indonesia with Brazil last year as well.

Barcelona have been admirers of Messinho’s talents for a while now and the player himself has admitted that he dreams of joining the Catalans.

But, reports yesterday claimed that Chelsea were closing in on the capture of Estevao, as they are willing to meet his €60 million release clause, something that Barça are not in a position to do.

Estevao unaware of Chelsea advances

Now, though, Roger Torello of Mundo Deportivo is reporting that neither Estevao nor his closest entourage is aware of Chelsea making advances to secure his signing.

The report affirms that the Blues are indeed working to sign the 16-year-old wonderkid and are prepared to meet his €60 million release clause.

In fact, it also states that officials from Chelsea have already flown to Brazil to further discussions with Palmeiras in the hope of securing the deal for Estevao, who will only be able to move to Europe in 2025 when he turns 18.

But, for now, the player and his entourage are seemingly in the dark about Chelsea’s plans and are unaware of the movements being made by them.

Estevao still dreams of Barcelona

Furthermore, the report goes on to state that Estevao still dreams of playing for Barcelona, following in the footsteps of Vitor Roque, who joined the club this month from Athletico Paranaense.

The Blaugrana have a strong relationship with Estevao’s agent, Andre Cury, but the financial situation, coupled with Palmeiras’ reluctance to negotiate a lower price makes things difficult for the La Liga champions.
