A new racist controversy emerges in Italy, after the Inter Milan-Naples match, which was played this Sunday.

The Serie A match between Naples and Inter Milan (1-1) last Sunday was marked by a controversial incident involving Juan Jesus and Francesco Acerbi. The Napoli central defender not only scored his team's only goal, but also accused his opponent of racism.

In the 59th minute of the match, Jesus interrupted play to inform the referee, Frederico La Penna, that Acerbi had called him a “nigger.” The Brazilian showed the message “No to racism” on his jersey to support his accusation.

10 match suspension

After a discussion with the referee, play resumed. Jesus then said the Italian defender acknowledged his words and apologized. “He realized he had gone too far, he apologized. I hope it doesn’t happen again, he’s an intelligent person,” he said on the microphone of DAZN.

The Federal Prosecutor's Office could open an investigation to determine whether the racist insult is true. If the insult is confirmed, the Milanese risks a heavy sanction. He could be suspended for at least ten matches.

Furthermore, Acerbi, initially called up for the Italian national team's friendly matches against Venezuela and Ecuador, chose to withdraw from the group.
