The Eastern Regional House of Chiefs has held a two-day workshop at Senchi in the Asuogyaman District.
The inaugural event was aimed at building the capacity of its members on chieftaincy issues, legal frameworks, and dispute resolution.
Held on September 24 and 25, it brought together 11 paramount chiefs and traditional council leaders who constitute the house.

The workshop was under the theme “Training on matters relating to chieftaincy.”
It was an initiative of Nene Sakite II, the President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs.
The traditional rulers were taken through topics such as chieftaincy litigation, customary arbitration, and the supervisory jurisdiction of the High Court over traditional adjudications.
The sessions were facilitated by legal experts, including Dominic Cecil Hammond and His Lordship Justice Frederick A.W.K. Nawurah.
In his opening address, Nene Sakite II expressed his excitement at the successful realisation of this long desired initiative.
He urged all Ghanaians to promote peace ahead of the upcoming national elections scheduled for December 2024.
Participants engaged actively, seeking clarifications and sharing insights based on their experiences.
They raised concerns about management of stool lands, the environmental impact of illegal mining, and the growing trend of divisive rhetoric in the media.
The chiefs emphasized the need for the government action to safeguard natural resources and uphold cultural values within the community.
The workshop climaxed with the election of new officers to lead the House for the next four years.
Nene Sakite II (Manya Krobo) was re-elected unopposed as President, alongside Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II (Okwahuhene), who continues as Vice President.
Additionally, three members— Okotwaasuo Kantamanto Oworae Agyekum III (Akyem Bosome Omanhene), Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, (Okyenhene) and Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III (Akwamuhene) —were elected to represent the House at the National House of Chiefs.
