The Eddie Howe Brentford Press Conference has taken place.

The Newcastle United Head Coach speaking to the media ahead of Sunday afternoon’s match in West London.

All ten Premier League matches kicking off at 4pm on Sunday, in the final round of Premier League matches.

United would guarantee ending the season seventh as a minimum if winning against Brentford, staying above Man U.

To finish sixth, United would need to beat Brentford AND see Bournemouth win at Chelsea.

Eddie Howe Brentford press conference – 17 May 2024:

“We have to do everything we can [at Brentford] to do our part.

“What we don’t want to do is for the other teams to make a mistake and we are not there to capitalise on it.”

Eddie Howe asked if Nick Pope and Joelinton could start on Sunday:

“All options are open to us.

“With those players we have had to make the right decisions.

“There will be a next season for us and we didn’t want to bring in a player, rush him back from injury and then lose him again for six months.

“We have tried to look after the players and introduce them when they are ready”

Eddie Howe on Callum Wilson:

“We anticipate he will be fit for Sunday.”

Eddie Howe on Anthony Gordon:

“We will wait and see how he is today.

“I’m not 100% sure as I sit here now exactly how he is.

“Certainly that tackle [by Amrabat at Old Trafford left a mark on him.”

Eddie Howe asked about the upcoming summer transfer window:

“We have been finalising the plan.

“There’s a lot of uncertainty over transfers in general, with prices and how much activity there will be.

“For us, there is a lot that could happen but it is one of those things we will have to see how it unfolds.”

Eddie Howe on a big last day of the season…

“It is a big last day for us, there’s no denying that.

“We go into the game knowing we have to do our part, which is win the game.

“That is no mean feat, it’s going to be a tough game, then we’re in the hands of other clubs.

“The players are determined to finish on a high.

“We could have got more [points] from the past two games and we didn’t.”
