Eddie Howe gives very positive Bruno Guimaraes update – Moving forward now

Eddie Howe has been talking about Bruno Guimaraes.

The Newcastle United talisman having played 50 times for Newcastle United last season, followed by six more caps for Brazil this summer.

After exiting from the Copa America at the quarter-final stage to Uruguay, Bruno Guimaraes given a bit of extended NUFC leave to spend some time with his family.

Sunday saw the main Newcastle United squad fly from the UK to Japan.

However, Bruno Guimaraes set off late Saturday (UK time) from Brazil, facing a 26-hour-long journey.

The squad now all together in Japan, ahead of the two friendlies on Wednesday and Saturday.

Bruno Guimaraes was best man at Joelinton’s wedding just after the 2023/24 season ended and the pair were happy to see each other as always, when Bruno joined the squad in Japan.

Eddie Howe somebody else who was pleased to see Bruno Guimaraes and hoping for a similar level of performance from his playmaker as we all saw last season.

The Head Coach dismissing any concerns the media claimed about the June deadline on Bruno’s contract release clause, widely believed to have been £1oom.

Eddie Howe speaking to the media about Bruno Guimaraes in Japan:

“The release clause was never something on my mind.

“I don’t think it was on his mind either.

“But of course it was there and I am really delighted it has passed with nothing happening.

“Now we can focus on him being at Newcastle and having another season like he did last year.

“He’s such an important player for us.

“You can see the boost that he gave the group today to have him back with us for the first time on the training pitch.

“He has been a galvanising player for us for the last two years.

“I think that I speak on behalf of everybody who wants to see Bruno on the pitch, wearing a black and white shirt and happy and content, absolutely ready to drive the team forward again.”
