Eddie Howe on Friday morning.

The Newcastle United Head Coach meeting journalists as normal ahead of the next match.

A massive game against Tottenham on Sunday.

That is the final match before we head into the first (ridiculous) international break, one a month for the next three months.

This is of course the final Eddie Howe press conference before the 11pm deadline tonight.

So no surprise what was top of the agenda this morning.

As added intrigue this Friday morning, the Eddie Howe Tottenham press conference was late in starting.

With speculation that the press conference had been delayed due to Eddie Howe having ‘transfer meetings‘ with the Newcastle United hierarchy, to try and get late signings over the line at last, on deadline day.

Eddie Howe asked whether more Newcastle United signings will finally come in on deadline day:

“I don’t know.

“Currently there is still time.

“There is still work going on to try and see what we can do in the last few hours of this window.

“Whilst there is time there is hope.

“With such a short time left, it is looking difficult.

“This transfer window continues to be difficult for us.

“It is a difficult situation with PSR and attracting the right players that we think can make a difference.

“If we can’t do that (attract the right players), then doing nothing is perhaps the best option, as frustrating as that is.

“There is a feeling that we have a good squad but a feeling that there are a few areas that we felt we needed to strengthen.”

Eddie Howe asked if he is happy with his Newcastle United squad as things currently stand?

“To be honest, a bit of both.

“We have a good squad.

“We like all the players that we have in our squad.

“However, there is a feeling of course, that there are a few areas of the squad that we felt we needed to strengthen.

“I think we carry those emotions depending on what happens in these final hours [of the transfer window].”
