The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) would not step down for any candidate or party ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Edo State, says Prince Adewole Adebayo.

Naija News reports that the 2023 presidential candidate of the SDP, Adebayo, made this declaration via his official X account @Pres-Adebayo, a few hours into the Edo governorship election scheduled for Saturday, September 21.

He stated that the Edo SDP candidate, Anerua Abdulai Aliu, is committed to staying with the party and will not abandon it for any candidate or party.

Adebayo also advised the electorate to be cautious of those spreading false information about the SDP’s supposed exit from the election.

He cautioned against being misled by the propaganda from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its harmful economic policies that have caused distress, tears, and hunger across the nation.

“Voters and general public in the Edo Gubernatorial Election slated for Saturday 21 September 2024 should not be deceived by @OfficialAPCNg and its desperate propaganda.

“@TheSDPNg has not and will not step down for a political party whose disastrous economic policy is sorrow, tears and hunger.

“We stand by our candidate and our manifesto of Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity,” he said.

Given the economic situation in the land, Adebayo said whoever can spare a finger to thumbprint for APC and PDP should have his or her head re-examined.

He said, “Any voters lamenting over poverty, insecurity, hunger, unemployment, inflation, hardship and injustice who still can spare a finger to thumbprint for @OfficialAPCNg or @OfficialPDPNig need to reexamine the connection between their brains and their fingers.”
