The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Thursday, pledged to give interest-free loans to traders if voted into power as the governor of Edo State on September 21.
Okpebholo made the promise while speaking with traders of the New Building Materials Sellers Association in Cook Road Benin City.
Okpebholo also promised to help the traders build the association’s secretariat on the plot of land donated to them by the late Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa II.
He said, “Traders are very important in the development of the economy because of the kind of businesses they do.
“Any money invested on traders will is not lost. So I will fulfill my promise of giving interest-free loans immediately after I become the governor. I am coming to work for Edo people and not to mismanage their funds. Vote APC on September 21 and you will benefit from the programme we have lined up for the residents of the state,” he pleaded.
Earlier, the Director General of the All Progressive Congress, Campaign Council, Matthew Urhoghide, told the traders that he brought Okpebholo to talk to them about what he wanted to do and also hear their demands.
He noted that the APC candidate would do all that he has promised, stating that Okpebholo aspires to become the governor to better the lots of the citizens.
Addressing the campaign team earlier, the President of the association, Nonso Ibeh, said Senator Urhoghide has been close to his association, stating that he came to them twice for his election and he won, assuring that the outcome of today’s visit would not be different.
Nonso added, “We pray that when you are elected you will help us to build our secretariat which we have been given a parcel of land by the late Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa 11.
Also, speaking to people in Idumu Ewase Community in Isihuhe Street, off Mission Road, Benin, Okpebholo urged the residents not to vote for PDP as Asue Ighodalo would behave like his godfather, Governor Obaseki.
He added, “Vote for APC on September 21 and I will make sure I deliver dividends of democracy,” he assured.
