The former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, has thrown his weight behind the PDP gubernatorial flag bearer in Saturday’s governorship election in Edo state, Asue Ighodalo.

Secondus, in a statement in Abuja on Thursday signed by his media aide, Ike Abonyi, stated that Ighodalo is clearly a stand-out candidate for the position with his wealth of experience in managing man and material.

The former PDP chairman also urged Edo voters to come out in their numbers and cast their votes for the best candidate who would take the state to the next level.

The statement added, “Prince Secondus admonished critical stakeholders involved in the conduct of the election to be transparent and just bearing in mind the bigger consequences of a marred election to our democracy.

“He said that the country is going through a horrific situation already resulting from APC’s misrule and cannot afford further strains arising from flawed elections. Prince Secondus further called on the INEC to use the Edo election and try to remedy their battered image.

“He also urged security operatives to be professional and unbiased in their conduct and let only the will of Edo voters prevail.

“Finally, Prince Secondus noted that all the tensions trailing the election can be watered down to zero if INEC and security agencies play by the rules.”
