The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said the party is confident it has delivered its Edo State candidate, Asue Ighodalo, in Saturday’s governorship election.

In a statement on Sunday, the PDP stated that the party’s focus is to deliver victory for its candidate in the November Ondo State governorship election.

PDP said members of the party remain committed to delivering governance and promoting democracy.

The party had, on Saturday, warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against manipulating the votes of Edo voters in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Intelligence available to the PDP indicates that the APC is mounting pressure on the INEC Chairman and Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) to suspend the collation process so as to make way for the manipulation of the INEC Portal and replace the real results from the Units with fabricated figures in favour of the APC.

“Our Party has also been made aware that the APC is mounting pressure on the Military to withdraw from their positions so as to enable the APC convey its armed thugs to disrupt and manipulate the collation process.

“The PDP in very strong terms cautions INEC and the APC to note that the people of Edo State already have authentic results from the Polling Units across the State and that any attempt by anybody or group whatsoever to alter the results will inflame the already charged situation with very severe consequences on perpetrators,” the party said in a statement on Saturday night.

On Sunday, on its X handle, PDP wrote, “Building on the momentum of the Ballot Box Revolution from the Edo State Governorship Election, our Party is poised to replicate this achievement in Ondo State‘s upcoming Guber Election on November 16, 2024. Our Party remains committed to promoting democratic values, good governance, and the will of the people.

“We shall continue with our grassroots mobilization, strengthening our presence at the local level to engage voters and promote our candidate, Agboola Ajayi, focusing on showcasing our candidate’s vision for progress in Ondo State, collaborating with stakeholders, engaging community leaders, and others in order to ensure a free and fair Election in November.”
