The Deputy Majority Leader of Edo State House of Assembly, Natasha Osawaru, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of rigging Saturday’s governorship election.
Natasha Osawaru made the allegation while speaking to newsmen. She decried that both INEC and security agents were helping the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The member representing Egor constituency alleged that agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were not allowed to be in the collation center.
She said, “From security personnel that are supposed to observe the process, started helping people to carry the ballot boxes.
“The good thing is that videos will be uploaded on social media. I’m young and so we are very good with social media. The oppression was too much, we are voting, we are PDP state, yet we let APC vote freely.
“They are now the one oppressing us. In 1999 constitution, as amended, we don’t collate in INEC, we collate in the ward.
“So you cannot tell the ward people to come out collate in INEC. Then when they are there you have the other candidates in there with INEC, then you’re pushing out the PDP candidates.”
Osawaru called on INEC to follow the due process of the Electoral Act by allowing the PDP agents to be at the collation center or cancel the election.
“Obviously, you’re rigging and we are not going to take it. It is either we all go in there since they decide, or maybe they have their own reasons, but that their reasons we must be there.
“Agents must be there, when you are collating agents must be there. Agents must be there if they don’t (agents) Edo State election will be cancelled because we can’t take it now,” she added.
