A former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has said the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, in the 2024 governorship election in the state, was a divine answer from God.
Senator Oshiomhole said Okpebholo would make up for the eight years of Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former national chairman of the APC added that the party did not believe in the do-or-die election but in the will of God and the power of ordinary citizens to hire and fire any politician.
According to him, the eight years of Obaseki was a disaster. He added that Edo has also been saved from the disaster that the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo would have brought into the state if he had won.
Senator Oshiomhole stated this on Sunday evening while reacting to Okpebholo’s victory.
He said, “Everything and anything that God cannot do does not exist. And that is why when ordinary men and when boast of their power, those with wisdom know that power resides only with God.
“When some people say election is a do or die. We say no it is about power of the ordinary citizens to even hire and fire.
“Now today, God by his inifinte power has decreed Senator Monday Okpebolo to make up for the eight years disaster of Obaseki and Asue together. So on this day, first we give thanks to God Almighty that we did all those campaigns without casualty.“
