Although physically diminished, Mohamed Salah was called up for the Egyptian selection. The Pharaohs want to make up their own mind about the situation.

Egypt’s general manager, Ibrahim Hassan, has insisted that only the national team staff will determine the fate of injured players, after calling Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Egypt will compete in the Winsunited Cup in the United Arab Emirates during the March international break alongside Tunisia, Croatia and New Zealand.

Salah will have to have his injury noted

Hossam Hassan, the coach, summoned seven players playing abroad for the camp, including Mohamed Salah from Liverpool, who has suffered from various injuries since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Salah has only played twice with the Reds since the start of the year and Liverpool tried to convince the Egyptian federation to exclude their star from the international break in March.

However, Ibrahim Hassan indicated that only the technical staff of the national team has a say on who plays and who does not, while declaring that it monitors the state of health of each of its members.

“The national team management team wishes success to all the overseas-based players who have been selected to participate in the March training camp, and we are keen to ensure that they are in good health. In the event of a player’s injury, the coach and the medical staff will decide on his fate after his presence at the training camp, and we will then consult with his club.

“I have contacted all foreign players on the national team list over the past few hours to check on them and agree on their arrival date at camp.”added Hassan.
