Eiza González, Poppy Liu, Taylour Paige & Will Poulter Join Boots Riley’s Neon Pic ‘I Love Boosters’

EXCLUSIVE: Eiza González (Baby Driver), Poppy Liu (Hacks), Taylour Paige (Zola), and Will Poulter (The Bear) have closed deals to join I Love Boosters, Boots Riley’s next film for Neon, which commences production this fall.

The actors join a stacked cast which also includes Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, LaKeith Stanfield, and Demi Moore, as previously announced. Pic is about a ring of enterprising boosters (aka shoplifters, equal opportunists), who take aim at a cutthroat fashion maven. Further plot details are being kept under wraps for the moment.

Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett will produce on behalf of their Ryder Picture Company with Savage Rose Films’ Allison Rose Carter and Jon Read, under their production and development partnership with Neon. Exec producers include Mike Jackman, Gus Deardoff, Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum for Waypoint Entertainment, Megan Ellison for Annapurna, and Neon, which is financing the film with Waypoint Entertainment. Neon is also releasing the film theatrically in the U.S. and handling international sales.

Currently starring opposite Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal in Hulu’s boxing drama La Máquina, González has also recently been seen in Netflix’s 3 Body Problem, along with acclaimed films like Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver and Netflix’s I Care a Lot. Most recently, she wrapped opposite James Marsden and Vince Vaughn on 20th’s buddy action comedy Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice. Up next, she will be seen in Guy Ritchie’s new films In the Grey and Fountain of Youth, along with Flying Lotus’s sci-fi pic Ash.

A rising star on a tear over the last couple of years with roles on such acclaimed series as Hacks, The Afterparty, and Better Call Saul, Liu will next be seen starring opposite Ray Romano, Lisa Kudrow, Abbi Jacobson and more in Netflix’s comedy No Good Deed from Dead to Me‘s Liz Feldman, which premieres on the streamer on December 12. Recently, she was tapped to star opposite Tessa Thompson in the limited series His & Hers for the same service.

Paige broke out as the title character in Janicza Bravo’s 2020 crime comedy Zola, for which she won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead. Next to be seen in HBO’s anticipated It prequel series It: Welcome to Derry, her other credits include Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, the music video for Kendrick Lamar’s “We Cry Together,” and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.

Emmy-nominated for his work on Hulu’s Dopesick and FX’s The Bear, where he plays the lovable Chef Luca, Poulter’s upcoming projects include Sony Pictures Classics’ On Swift Horses, A24’s horror comedy Death of a Unicorn, and Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland’s Warfare for the same studio.
