Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji
The Ekiti State Government has disbursed N100m as financial assistance to 105 beneficiaries for treatment of various medical conditions.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Oyebanji Filani, who spoke in Ado Ekiti on Friday while distributing cheques to the beneficiaries, said that the support from the government was to ensure they could afford their medical bills.
Filani said, “The medical conditions covered included treatment of kidney and cancer, appendectomies and cataract surgeries as well as fibroids removals.
“The assistance covers those who are currently undergoing treatment or about to undergo treatment, persons with specific treatments that are available within the state or outside the state.”
Filani appreciated Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, for approving the disbursement and for always being on the side of the masses.
He urged the beneficiaries to remain optimistic and adhere to instructions from medical personnel to ensure good and quick recovery as he reiterated the state government’s commitment to providing quality, accessible and affordable healthcare services to all citizens of the state.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Olusola Gbenga-Igotun, said that the government was aware of the burden of ill health and lack of financial power by many citizens, hence the medical financial assistance to ease the financial burden.
The PS urged Ekiti residents to prioritize their health, do regular exercise and eat adequately to stay healthy.
One of the beneficiaries, Chief Babatunde Ayowale, expressed appreciation to the governor for making their health and well-being the priority of his administration.
