APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, has assured the people of Anambra that they will experience good governance if they elect an APC governor in the November 2025 governorship election.
Ganduje stated that the APC is now politically solid and ready to provide the necessary logistics to secure victory in the Anambra poll.
He also reassured Nigerians of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to addressing the country’s challenges with determination and a clear sense of purpose.
The APC chairman made this statement on Saturday while commissioning the party’s new state secretariat in Awka.
The party secretariat was secured by a leading governorship aspirant, Sir Paul Chukwuma. The event brought together key political stakeholders, governorship aspirants, and policymakers to discuss the conduct of the party’s primaries and its chances in the upcoming election.
Addressing state party leaders, aspirants, and stakeholders, Ganduje emphasised APC’s commitment to integrating Anambra into the “national grid” of politics. He argued that the state had been deprived of the dividends of democracy due to its continued engagement in what he termed “rural politics.”
He expressed disappointment that despite Anambra’s vast human and natural resources, the state had lagged behind others because of its political positioning.
“We are here for three key activities: commissioning our new party secretariat, holding a stakeholders’ meeting to discuss issues and set our direction, and paying solidarity visits to some individuals.
“Our party is politically solid; it is a compound, not a mixture. I have not seen any friction—our members are united. When we assumed office, we assured them that it would not be business as usual, and today, the party is fully operational in Anambra.
“Our members and aspirants must remain focused, have a clear plan, and be ambitious. I am pleased that this is happening in Anambra State.
“We have five states in the South-East. At one time, all were controlled by other political parties. Today, APC controls two. We must connect Anambra to the national grid. Right now, the state is still on the rural grid, which is why its development is slow.
“In every local community across Nigeria, you will find an Igbo person engaged in business or other activities. So why remain in a micro entity politically? Can you remember Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and Odumegwu Ojukwu of blessed memory? They fought for national relevance and were at the centre of Nigerian politics. Today, however, the Igbo are still playing rural politics.
“We assure you that our party is prepared and will provide all necessary logistics to ensure APC’s victory in Anambra.”
Ganduje also reassured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu is tackling the country’s challenges with unwavering commitment. He stated that Tinubu’s leadership is focused on strengthening democracy, driving economic growth, and improving governance.
“Our President is the most articulate and committed leader in Nigeria today. He believes in this country. He is a visionary leader who speaks with facts and figures, not just words.
“Bola Tinubu is taking Nigeria to the next level. Security is improving, our refineries are operational, the economy is growing, and industries are expanding. Anambra State, we are here for you, we will work for you, and we seek your cooperation to capture this state,” Ganduje added.
Speaking on the visit, a frontline governorship aspirant, Sir Paul Chukwuma, described the occasion as historic.
“For the first time in the history of APC in Anambra, we have established functional ward offices across all 326 wards and revitalised our structures in all 21 local government areas. The commissioning of this state office is more than just opening a building; it symbolises our collective resolve to build a party that stands for progress, unity, and prosperity for all.
“This underscores the importance of grassroots engagement and inclusivity. The party has created platforms for women, support groups, and youth participation in leadership. Inclusivity is central to our strategy.
We believe that the contributions of all segments of society, especially women and youths, are vital to building a sustainable future for Anambra,” Chukwuma added.
