Elizabeth MacRae has sadly passed away. The actress, best known for her recurring roles in General Hospital and Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., has died at the age of 88 on Monday (May 27) in Fayetteville, North Carolina, via Deadline. Her first TV role was playing a witness in the courtroom series The Verdict Is Yours, and she would go on to star in shows like Judd for the Defense, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, I Dream of Jeannie, The Andy Griffith Show, and many more. In Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., she played Gomer’s girlfriend Lou-Ann Poovie. On General Hospital, she played Meg Baldwin beginning in August 1969. She remained on soap opera until 1973, when the character was killed off. She would also appear in Another World, Days of Our Lives, Guiding Light, and Search for Tomorrow. Her film projects included Goldfish Bowl, Everything’s Ducky, The Incredible Mr. Limpet, and The Conversation. Her last film credit was in 1989, where she played a reporter on Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives! She and her husband Charles Day Halsey Jr. moved to North Carolina and eventually returned home to Fayetteville. Our thoughts are with Elizabeth MacRae‘s loved ones at this difficult time. We have sadly lost many stars in 2024.
