Ellen Degeneres will return to Netflix with a new hour-long comedy special later this year, Deadline has learned. This will mark Degeneres’ second special for the platform, on the heels of 2018’s Relatable.

Ben Winston and Fulwell73 will serve as the special’s producers.

“There is nobody quite like Ellen,” stated Robbie Praw, VP of Stand-Up and Comedy Formats at Netflix. “She is a true legend and pioneer in so many ways. We can’t wait to bring fans another one of her hilarious comedy specials later this year.”

Stated Degeneres, “To answer the questions everyone is asking me – Yes, I’m going to talk about it. Yes this is my last special. Yes, Portia really is that pretty in real life.”

When she says “it,” Degeneres is likely referring to her controversy-laden exit from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, after allegations of a toxic workplace culture emerged in 2020. She ended her run there on May 26, 2022 after 19 seasons, during which the show garnered 64 Daytime Emmy Awards including 12 for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show, coming in as the record holder in that category.

Coming to tape the Grammy-nominated Relatable following a 15-year hiatus from stand-up, Degeneres previously put out the HBO stand-up specials The Beginning and Here and Now, both of which were recognized with multiple Emmy nominations. As a producer, her most recent projects include the Discovery docs Endangered and Saving the Gorillas: Ellen’s Next Adventure.

Preparing to set out on a multi-city stand-up tour starting in San Diego, CA on June 19, the screen icon is repped by CAA and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.
