Suspended two matches by Fifa for new escapades in the Argentina jersey, Emiliano Martinez has made his mea culpa.
During the last international break, at the beginning of September, the Albiceleste goalkeeper distinguished himself by his behavior – willingly provocative – against Chile and then Colombia – an attitude which earned him the reprimands of the Fifa, and a sanction, for violation of the principles of fair play.
This Monday, Emiliano Martinez wanted to make amends: “
I accept the sanction from Fifa and I apologize if I offended anyone, the celebrations are supposed to bring smiles to many kids and not disrespect anyone. »
And the Argentinian goalkeeper who also stood out for his obscenities during the 2022 World Cup celebrations added: “ It was never my intention to disrespect anyone. I didn’t understand that a gesture that was well received by people was offensive, but I will try not to offend anyone anymore and focus on winning titles with Argentina and Aston Villa. »
