Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, said the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund created 221,000 jobs since its inception.

The governor spoke at the Lagos Employment Summit organised by the  Trust Fund.

In a statement on his X handle, he said, “I spoke on our journey toward sustainable job creation and economic growth in Lagos State.

“Over the past year, we have made significant strides in improving the employment landscape. Our unemployment rate has seen significant positive change, thanks to various initiatives and policies aimed at creating jobs and empowering our youth.”

He said the LSETF was a key element of the government’s job creation strategy.

“Since its inception, the fund has generated over 221,000 direct and indirect jobs, facilitated more than 83,000 access-to-market opportunities, and trained over 18,000 young people in industry-relevant skills.

“Today, we also launched the Labour Market Information System a platform designed to boost job creation and enhance the job market in Lagos State. As we move forward, it is imperative that we continue to unite our efforts. I call on all stakeholders – government agencies, the private sector, civil society, and international partners – to join hands with us in this mission,” he added.

Earlier in the week, the state government noted that the Trust Fund had disbursed up to N10bn to small scale businesses across the state since inception.
