It was one of the most anticipated matches of this second day of the group stage of Euro 2024. This Thursday evening, England failed to defeat Denmark and conceded the draw on the score 1-1.

Harry Kane opened the scoring at the start of the match (1-0, 12th) before Morten Hjulmand equalized a few minutes before the end of the first act (1-1, 34th).

A draw which does not really suit the two teams. With 4 points on the clock, the Three Lions

However, they are at the top of this group C. Gareth Southgate’s men have their destiny in their hands to reach the round of 16. A draw could be enough to advance to the next round.

For Denmark, the situation is slightly different. With 2 units, the Danes have the same number of points as Slovenia and the same goal difference. Christian Eriksen’s partners will have to do better than the Slovenians on the last day to climb to second place in the group.

A very balanced and intense meeting

Victorious in their first outing against Serbia, thanks to a goal from Jude Bellingham, England wanted to confirm and validate their ticket for the round of 16. From the start of the game, Southgate’s players sent a message to the Danes by putting rhythm and intensity into the duels.

A conquering attitude which was rewarded by a goal from Harry Kane. The English striker took advantage of a mix-up in the area to propel his left-footed shot into the back of the net (1-0.12).

An achievement which will wake up the Danes who will gain the upper hand in the game over their opponents. Technically precise and aggressive when losing the ball, Denmark’s efforts will pay off. In the 34th minute of play, Morten Hjulmand was served at the edge of the area by Victor Kristiansen.

The number 24 controls his ball in the direction of play before unleashing a powerful right-footed shot which streaks into Pickford’s net with the help of the post.

The second period started on the same basis with aggression and intensity on both sides. Both teams will play for their places in the round of 16 on the final day.
