English newspaper Daily Mail (h/t Mundo Deportivo) is reporting that Barcelona are interested in the acquisition of Nottingham Forest’s 21-year-old defender, Murillo.
It is no secret that Barcelona are actively exploring the market for promising young talent and one of the recent names surfacing in connection to a potential move to Barça for the upcoming season is Murillo.
The young defender is making waves in his debut season in the English Premier League, catching the eye of major teams across Europe and according to the outlet, Barcelona are among several suitors showing strong interest in him.
Nottingham Forest could be forced to sanction a sale
Murillo joined Nottingham Forest last summer from Corinthians, with the Brazil team receiving €12 million for the transfer.
As of today, Murillo’s standout performances suggest he may not stay with Forest for long as they currently sit 17th in the Premier League, just one point clear of relegation, prompting them to keep a close eye on their situation.

Adding to their concerns, Nottingham Forest face potential repercussions for breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) earlier in the season.
To avoid further penalties, the club will likely need to sell players in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Everything suggests an exit
The uncertainty surrounding Murillo’s future means no immediate transfer is on the cards, especially as Forest’s Premier League fate hangs in the balance.
However, if the club does slip into the EFL Championship, Murillo could be available for around €20 million.
Despite the speculation, Murillo remains a key player for Nottingham Forest, having already made 31 appearances this season.
His importance to the team is undeniable as they navigate their current challenges and await clarity on their future in the Premier League.
