Recognised as one of Europe’s most promising forwards, Marmoush brings versatility to City’s attack with his ability to operate across the frontline.
The Egyptian international, capped 35 times for his country, expressed his excitement at joining Pep Guardiola’s team, stating, “To sign for Manchester City – one of the best teams in the world – is an amazing feeling.”
A statement on the club website on Thursday morning revealed this.
Marmoush’s football journey began in Egypt with Wadi Degla before moving to Germany in 2017, where he played for Wolfsburg and later joined Frankfurt in 2023.
His 2023/24 season with Frankfurt was remarkable, yielding 17 goals in 41 appearances. This form continued into the current campaign, with Marmoush registering 20 goals and 14 assists in 26 games before his move to City.
City’s Praise for Marmoush
Manchester City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, highlighted the forward’s potential. “Omar is an accomplished and exciting forward, and I’m delighted he’s joining us,” Begiristain said.
“He has all the attributes a top-class attacker requires. He has outstanding pace and awareness, and he is exceptional in front of goal. He can also play a number of different positions, which is a really valuable asset.”
Begiristain added that working under Guardiola would only elevate Marmoush’s game further: “I have no doubt that Pep and our technical staff will help him develop his superb attacking talent.” Marmoush
“A Day I Will Never Forget”
Marmoush expressed his excitement about joining the reigning Premier League champions. “This is a day I will never forget,” he said. “To sign for Manchester City – one of the best teams in the world – is an amazing feeling. My family is so proud, and we are all very happy to be here in Manchester.”
The Egyptian forward also shared his eagerness to thrive under Guardiola’s leadership: “With Pep, his technical staff, and the world-class facilities here, players have everything they need to improve. That was really enticing for me when I had the chance to come here. I also want to win trophies. City have been the most successful club in England for many years, so I know I am joining a winning environment and culture.”
Marmoush has been in red-hot form this season, tallying 20 goals and 14 assists across 26 appearances for Frankfurt. His 15 Bundesliga goals trail only compatriot Mohamed Salah among Egyptian players in Europe’s top five leagues.
