Manchester United’s backroom staff is getting a major shake-up if reports are believed that Ruud van Nistelrooy and another Dutch coach could join the coaching team led by Erik ten Hag.

The Dutch media claim Go Ahead Eagles head coach Rene Hake is in talks over a move to Old Trafford. This means he would give up a manager’s role to become one of Ten Hag’s coaches at Old Trafford.

Voetbal International believe it’s only a matter of time before Hake joins United, although the official approach to Go Ahead Eagles has yet to be made.

It is understood Hake has a clause in his contract that allows him to make the move, but there is no mention of the figure needed to trigger that clause.

Hake, who led Go Ahead Eagles to 9th in the Eredivisie last season, worked with Ten Hag at FC Twente and they could be reunited at Old Trafford next season.

The same report suggests Hake and Van Nistelrooy could both be part of United’s coaching staff next season. It’s not a matter of one or the other.

While we don’t know much about Hake, it would be exciting to see Van Nistelrooy return to United because of what it could mean for players like Rasmus Hojlund. I’m sure he would have good advice for Marcus Rashford too.
