Eric Dier is set for a permanent move to Bayern Munich despite the German champions reportedly having big concerns over his ability and lack of pace.

Dier is currently on loan at the Bundesliga giants from Tottenham but has now met the contractual obligations required to make it a permanent switch.

That’s according to The Athletic, who report that Bayern will register the Englishman as a free agent until 2025 which his Spurs deal expires in June.

News of Dier’s loan being made permanent comes just a week after reports in Germany claimed that Bayern Munich were keen to offload Dier with the club worried about his ‘ability and lack of pace’.

Dier moved across to the Allianz Arena in the January transfer window to link up with former Spurs teammate Harry Kane.

The 30-year-old has made six appearances for Thomas Tuchel’s side to date, with Bayern Munich currently second in the Bundesliga behind Bayer Leverkusen.

Dier’s upcoming permanent switch to Bayern Munich brings an end to his 10-year stint in north London and means he has already played his final game for Spurs.

The centre-back, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, made a total of 364 appearances for Tottenham having arrived from Sporting Lisbon in 2014.

Dier, who has been capped 49 times by England, is still waiting to land his first piece of major silverware following runner-up finishes in Champions League and Carabao Cup with Spurs.

Bayern Munich have a job to do to secure the Bundesliga this term, with the champions currently eight points behind Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen.
