The Vince McMahon docuseries on Netflix has been generating a lot of buzz since its release, and TNA Wrestling’s Eric Young is the latest to share his thoughts. Appearing on the podcast HUGE POP! with Donnie DaSilva and Jimmy Korderas, Young offered a candid perspective on the series, which has been at the center of pro wrestling conversations.
Young didn’t mince words, noting that viewers shouldn’t be too surprised by the content of the docuseries, given Netflix’s close relationship with WWE. Despite Vince McMahon no longer actively running the company, Young acknowledged that his legacy is deeply tied to WWE’s history.
“I don’t know what people were expecting (from Netflix’s Vince McMahon docuseries),” Young said. “Netflix is married to the WWE… His legacy will be part of that company as long as it exists. At one time, I would say in my personal opinion, [he was] a genius and maybe the greatest promoter living. [But] he lost his way along the way, obviously.”
Interestingly, Young admitted he hasn’t watched the series himself, noting that while people have told him it’s not the most flattering portrayal, he’s more focused on other TV shows at the moment.
With the series reigniting conversations about Vince McMahon’s controversial career, Young added that, despite the revelations, it’s all familiar territory for those in the industry. “The stuff on there is stuff that’s been talked about before. So, yeah, it’s no news to me,” he said.
What’s next for WWE as the company moves forward with a new era on Netflix remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—there’s never a dull moment in the world of professional wrestling.
